Rupertsland Institute Signs Partnership with Alberta Health Services

EDMONTON – A partnership between Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Rupertsland Institute, Métis Centre of Excellence, will create new training and employment opportunities for Métis students studying a health-related field. The agreement was signed today by Dr. Chris Eagle, President and CEO and Alberta Health Services, and Tracy Friedel, Chair of the Rupertsland Institute Board of Directors.

Metis Nation of Alberta and University of Lethbridge Support Metis Students

On Wednesday, Jan 25th 2012, the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) and the University of Lethbridge (U of L) announced a $1 million endowment fund for Métis students. The endowment was created by a donation of $500,000 from the MNA’s Métis Education Foundation (MEF), and matching contributions from the U of L and will be endowed in perpetuity as a $1 million fund that will be called “Métis Education Foundation – Métis Scholar Awards”.

Métis Nation of Alberta Appoints new Chair for the Rupertsland Institute

The Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tracy L. Friedel as the Chair of the Rupertsland Institute Board of Governors. Dr. Friedel was appointed on February 8, 2012 by the MNA Provincial Council and will serve a five-year term effective immediately.

Métis Nation of Alberta and Mount Royal University Supports Métis students

On behalf of resident Métis citizens, the Métis Nation of Alberta and its partners at Mount Royal University announced yesterday that they have established a $500,000 endowment to support Métis students studying at Mount Royal University. “The most exciting aspect of this endowment is that it will exist in perpetuity for generations to come and that every year all interest earned by the fund will go to support Metis students at Mount Royal University” said Lorne Gladu, Chief Executive Officer of the Rupertsland Institute.

Rupertsland Institute Board of Directors Announcement and Open House

Edmonton — The Rupertsland Institute announces its inaugural Board of Governors and holds an open house for their new downtown office. Rupertsland Institute Métis Centre of Excellence is a section 9 non-profit company that was incorporated on July 8, 2010.

Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research launched at University of Alberta

Edmonton—The first academic centre of its kind in Canada, dedicated to Métis research, was announced today by the University of Alberta and the Rupertsland Institute. The Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research is the culmination of a decade-long partnership between the U of A and the Métis Nation of Alberta, and will co-ordinate and sustain academic research activity with and for Métis communities.
